recently, the list of winners of the national finals for the innovation and efficiency competition of the 17th “revitalization cup” national youth vocational skills contest was unveiled. the “wind turbine performance and malfunction diagnosis and precaution technology research and application” project of china longyuan power group corporation limited (“longyuan power” for short) and the “big data analysis-based meteorological and hydrological prediction and response management in the dadu river basin” project of dadu river company, both recommended by the communist youth league (cyl) committee of chn energy, stood out of all candidates and won the golden prize for technological innovation.

targeting at the demands for wind turbine performance analysis and malfunction precaution, the “wind turbine performance and malfunction diagnosis and precaution technology research and application” project launched by longyuan power created a big-data-based diagnosis and precaution platform by deeply integrating equipment design and operation mechanisms and ai technology. the platform has achieved 24-hour wind turbine health monitoring and automatic identification of abnormal wind turbines, and can give inspection and repair suggestions and perform analysis results system looped tracking. the outcomes of the project have been successfully applied in more than 200 wind farms under chn energy, pushing the equipment maintenance and repair mode to shift from passive repair to predictive maintenance and solve problems plaguing the wind power industry such as dispersing layouts, diversified turbine types, and lack of equipment operation and maintenance personnel.

the “big data analysis-based meteorological and hydrological prediction and response management in the dadu river basin” project of dadu river company aims to overcome challenges such as water disaster precaution and control. through exploring methods for the in-depth integration of the internet, big data, and ai technologies with the unified scheduling of cascade hydropower stations, it solved problems including remote sensing and monitoring of rainfalls in river basins with complicated conditions, precise meteorological and flood forecast and precaution, and self-adaptive scheduling and decision-making of cascade hydropower station clusters. the project achieved high-efficiency utilization of small and medium-sized floods, created remarkable anti-flood and disaster-relief results, and enhanced the usage rate of water resources in the dadu river basin. in recent three years, it has helped increase electricity generation by 3.23 billion kwh, adding profits by 661 million yuan.
the “ revitalization cup” national youth vocational skills contest, launched in 2005, is a first-class state competition sponsored by the cyl central committee and the ministry of human resources and social security. as part of the event, this year’s innovation and efficiency competition focused on selecting standouts in r&d innovation, technological innovation, and management innovation, attracting a total of 261 projects and over 500 contestants from 29 provincial-level regions and seven sectors. after repeated selections and strict assessments, 44 won the golden prizes, 88 won the silver prizes, and 129 won the bronze prizes. the competition created a strong atmosphere that inspired the whole society to invigorate and serve the country with cutting-edge vocational skills.
